Q: There is a sign at Rogerson Service that says “Help restore our historic school.” What’s the story?

A: The Rogerson community has launched a project to restore the historic 101-year-old Rogerson School building.

“We are trying to restore it to become a community event center,” Anita Young, co-owner of Rogerson Service said. “We would try to restore as much to the original as possible. The internal parts of the school and flooring are very well taken care of. We need to replace the roof and part of the ceiling because they have had some wear and tear over the years so it’s a big project. We are going to paint, clean up, and restore to the best of our abilities. One of the guys working on it called it ‘a historic gem’ so that was cool.”  Read full article by clicking the link to article above.

Want to thank the Rogerson Folks for all they are doing to keep the history of the school alive. My name is Randy Darling. My father an Aunts attended the Rogerson school in the 1930s. My dads name was Grant with sisters Isabelle and I believe Vernonia. A large thanks to Anita Young Robinson for showing me pictures an the great hospitality.
