A local non-profit organization called GREAT, Inc (Gooding Restoration for Entertainment, Arts & Theater) has been hard at work on the restoration of a wonderful historic theatre in Gooding, ID. Several fundraisers as well as a grant in the amount of $5000 from Harry L. Bettis of the Boise-based Laura Moore Cunningham Foundation, Inc. are all helping with the task. This building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Be sure to look for GREAT, Inc. at the 20th annual Gooding Holiday Craft Show Friday December 4 – 10:00 A.M. and Saturday December 5 – 10:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M. where they will be selling the bricks for the sidewalk in front of the theatre!
“It’s people like incredible volunteer Jan Shepard who helped us decorate at our Hollywood Night fundraiser and Shanna Koyle and Ruth Simerly who will help our efforts in getting a new roof be a success! Thank you Jan, Shanna and Ruth!” ~ Charmy LeaVell, Organizer
Another fund raiser will take place on February 13, 2016, called “Love Is In The Air” and will be held at the Gooding Basque Center at 6:00PM. The organizers will be offering music, dinner, a silent auction and exhibition dancing by Danielle Lofgran’s dance group.
GREAT, Inc. will be selling the personalized bricks for the sidewalk immediately in front of the entrance to the theatre. 8″ X 8″ are $100 with 6 lines of text; 8″ X 4″ are $50 with 3 lines of text.
Check back on SIRD’s or GREAT, Inc’s Facebook pages as the time draws near for more details on each of these events and more! This project is a labor of love and entails alot of expense so GREAT, Inc. will continue applying for grants and providing other fundraising opportunities to the community and beyond to bring this “GREAT” theatre back to life!
